With reference to Mr Lucas' letter of the 1st instant (7371/1901) stating that the Governor of Hong Kong requires a principal warder for the prison of that colony I am directed by the Secretary for Scotland to request that the Secretary of State for the Colonies will cause him to be informed (1) whether in the event of an officer in the Scottish Prison's service being recommended for the post, his service in that Department would count for pension, and (2) whether the age limit of 30 prescribed for Warders is meant to apply to "Principal" Warders.
